Are not thorns envious of the rose's petals?
as the Romantic's muse, with sanguine vitality
whose purpose is as destined and endeared as love itself
for inspiring the heart to love unambivalently
who in unaltered grace remains forever flawless
with unabashed presence, is compellingly seductive
the radiantly pristine flower is intrinsically precious
heavenly molded to be divinely attractive
a serendipitous beauty hindered by no impair
all despite the malicious jagged thorn's disgrace
who so covet the lovely's ineluctable allure
and ever curses its contritely undesirable place
who in the shadow of an inamorata, deplores this heinous injustice
yet, dwelling not in envy, the rose forever thrives in bliss.
